Intercreativity in Virtual Worlds: Beyond the concept of Social Gaming, what’s really going on? updated August 2008
My Master's dissertation, which will be finished by end of August, will look inside the massive multiplayer online virtual worlds of Second Life, World of Warcraft and Eve Online: their communities, their challenges and how people communicate within this new media. It draws special attention to "Generation C" and the new concept of Intercreativity, as Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the World Wide Web, described it.
If you have any materials that you think might be useful for my dissertation or have a connection to this field, please drop me an email on andreas.jud[at]gmail.com or call me on 0044 (0) 7784124409. It would be very much appreciated.
Please stop using IE!
Dear reader, if you're having problems with this site, this might be for 3 reasons:
1. you have not installed latest version of flash player
2.
you have not enabled JavaScript in your web browser
3. and most likely you are
using Internet Explorer. In this case, please do two things immediately as Aral Balkan so aptly put it: One, exit it. And two, uninstall it. Oh yeah, you can't uninstall it because Microsoft owns your computer not you. OK, so at least don't use it. Here are some yummy alternatives: Firefox or Safari (but why not get a Mac and enjoy the easy life?).
Remember: Friends don't let friends use IE.
I am a Masters Student at LCC
I have chosen to study a Masters in Interactive Multi-Media (MAIMM) at the London College of Communication for two reasons. First, I believe that at my previous job placements, as interesting and educational as they were, I have yet to reach the limit of my potential. Second, I have begun to realise just how much more there is to discover beyond graphic design. I hope that on this course I will discover my limits and even go beyond them. The motto of this course is: Learn to fail. Then you will succeed! Let's hope everythihng goes well. As the Italians would say: "In bocca al lupo!"
My tutors are Alan Sekers and Rob White. In 1984, Alan founded one of Europe's first digital design bureaux. Before that, he had produced and directed several documentaries, winning the Silver Hugo for Educational Films at the Chicago Film Festival for his work "Sea See C". His feature film, "The Arp Statue" won the Auckland and the Adelaide Film Festival Southern Cross and the Venice Film Festival Premio di Selezione (On the other hand, the Sunday Times called it the most boring film in the history of the movies).
Rob started out as a print maker and photographer and graduated from the MAIMM course in 2000. The project he led here was invited to MILIA and won the Japanese NHK Digista award for best Foreign Artist in 2001.

I love London
After spending two years in London, one year working as a bartender while also studying English, and a second year working as a graphic designer in a small branding company in the City, I have taken a one-and-a-half-year break at my hometown in Italy. But now I am back again. And it feels so good!
What I love most about London is the sheer number of open-minded people from every culture you can possibly think of. Discussing internet issues with my colleague from Israel, followed by drinking a pint in a nearby Old English pub with my friends from Hong Kong, Ireland and Belgium while watching the Arsenal against Chelsea football match is just brilliant! The other things I really like about London is the nightlife (I can recommend T Bar or café 1001 near Brick Lane if you like chilled out and Drum & Bass music), the transport system (I know it sucks sometimes and it is expensive, but it is much better than many other places), architecture (my favorites being the "Gherkin" and Big Ben) and the police (the police officers on the street are your best friend, always friendly and with a smile ... unlike in other countries ...).
Lots of people hate the London weather ... well you cannot compare it with the weather in Barcelona obviously ... but at least it is never boring and you are surprised by what can fall down from a clear blue sky in April!

A view from my room on a foggy night!
Ready for Holiday? Visit South Tyrol (dt: Südtirol, it: Alto Adige)!
South Tyrol is a German speaking part of North Italy and is justifiably famous for its untouched nature, beautiful mountains, fresh air, good food and cheese. Unfortunately, only a few people there speak English fluently ... so it would be handy if you understand some basic German or Italian. If your are stressed from the big city and want to take a break, my hometown in the middle of the Alps is the best place to relax, enjoy huge amounts of snow in the winter, have a nice trekking tour in the summer, or just enjoy being miles away from any other human being. My family has a "Holiday on the Farm" apartment for up to 4 people and you would be very welcome!
